From now until I get back my daughter will be posting how far I've gone each day.

Well the time's come to start the ride, tomorrow morning I head off alone through Edale to Ripponden and the start of an 8 day 350 mile trek up the country.

Last night I washed my bike and found a spoke broke on the front wheel, luckily we have a good local bike shop and he fixed this morning in no time at all, in fact I think he's tightened the hub and aligned the wheel as well. You see I'd ordered my spare parts from him for the ride, I could have got them 4 or 5 pounds cheaper on the internet but I could see the benefit in keeping the local bike shop going and today that benefit paid off. It's worth remembering, local businiesses offer more in the long run and sometimes that's what you're paying for.

When I went out on my full day rides I carried business cards with details of the ride and a link for the sponsor site and low and behold someone went and sponsored me, so thankyou 'bloke from fairholmes' I very much appreciate it.
